Having as a starting premise the fact that in Romania the production possibilities in contemporary art are almost non-existent and emerging artists are constantly challenged when it comes to the realization of their projects, Salonul de proiecte
acts as a platform for production, encouraging artistic practices that address current social and political issues.
After four years in which the annual organization of exhibition resulting from open-calls has been an essential curatorial endeavor of Salonul de proiecte, we are launching a new call for proposals to be submitted by emerging artists from Romania and the Republic of Moldova. In the previous years we invited internationally established artists to make the selection. Thus, in 2011 the selection process was entrusted to Anetta Mona Chişa & Lucia Tkáčová; in 2012, Aurelia Mihai and Ciprian Mureşan chose the projects which materialized in two exhibitions, while in 2013 the proposals were brought to the attention of Nicoline van Harskamp and the artistic duo Little Warsaw. For the most recent one, in 2014, Mona Vătămanu și Florin Tudor selected the works featured in an exhibition that opened in March 2015.
For this edition, following the activities undertaken in collaboration with the Romanian-Bulgarian Union, Salonul de proiecte invited Nedko Solakov to select the proposals. An exhibition presenting the resulting works will be opened during the 2015-2016 season. As was the case with the previous open-call exhibition, this project will be supported by the ERSTE Foundation.
